Project Life {Week 21 & 22}

Don't fall off your chairs, y'all, when I say that I'm STILL chugging along with Project Life!  I can hardly believe it myself. I have serious commitment issues, in case you haven't noticed!  I've even been spotted walking out of the house donning a wardrobe that consists of a pajama top and jean shorts.  Can't even follow through in the whole "getting dressed for the day" idea.  Maybe I just have a problem with following directions.  I'm not sure.

Anyway, I decided to back track a bit and share some pages from when school let out and the summer officially started around here.  Plus, I'm not completely caught up on PL (about a month behind) so showing you the past week's layout wouldn't actually be possible.  And I had to find pages that wouldn't get me turned over to the authorities for bad parenting.  So there's that.

What you're about to see may seem odd...not the people in the pictures, but rather the random one and half page layout.  Typically, I stick to two pages, but not this time.  I tried to limit myself to one page for one week so that I could catch up more quickly.  Then, I realized I missed some important aspects...like journaling...so I added the half page.  The lazy way out for sure.  Maybe I just needed some directions...

So below you'll find the first week of summer followed by the second week, which consisted of our first family of five vacation.  Since I already blogged about that (you can read it here), I'll skip repeating myself.  Although I'm told that I do that often.

Granted, these pages were put together quite quickly a few weeks ago so they're not very exciting.  Oh, well.  The purpose is to document life and not for it to take over your life, right?

*Note: I probably totally messed up on the week numbers.  Since I have no one else to compare with, I had to count it out by hand on the calendar.  I only had to count it four five twenty times before I came up with a consistent number!  Seriously, what's wrong with me?  Okay, don't answer that!

Project Life {Week 11}

I was so excited to do the layouts for last week.  I had MANY ideas on journaling cards, fun "extras", and cute embellishments!  I couldn't wait to get started!

Then...

I realized I took way too many pictures!  I had such a hard time narrowing it down.  Once I did make "the cut", I still had more than I needed, and that's including THREE collages!  Someone needs to take the camera away from me!

Somehow, I was able to pull it together and finish the layouts.  There's less journaling than usual so I added more word stickers to capture the moment.  Gotta love stickers!

Normally, I don't do much with inserts.  However, I did manage to add a few since I went OVERBOARD in the picture taking category! For the most part, the inserts are pictures taken from a little sleepover my daughter had.  I decided not include those pictures in this post since I didn't have permission to share the kids' faces all over the world wide web!

However, I am sharing a little something that my daughter made for the big event.  She whipped up an "itinerary" for the sleepover!  Did you catch that?  My very routine-orientated little girl wrote up a "sleep over schedule"!

I had no clue that she'd done such a thing until she asked me to play outside in the sprinkler.  Mind you, it's still technically winter around here...even though the temperatures say summer! I told her to wait since it was still a bit cool.  She gasped and said "But mom, my SCHEDULE says we're supposed to be outside and playing in the sprinkler right now!"

I didn't really get it at that point.  She came back a little while later and asked to play in the sprinkler again.  I told her to wait just a little longer to which she shouted "My SCHEDULE says we're supposed to be laying in the sun drying off!"

This is when she handed me her "sleepover itinerary"!  I was in shock!  Oh, my...that's all I can say.

Of course, I had to include the "schedule" in the layout for last week.  I LOVE adding "extras" like that!

Capture the moment...that's the best part of PL.

Enough rambling...here's the layout for Week 11 without the inserts.

Left side... *Note:  Our daughter decided to go gothic for a moment...hence the black lipstick and silver eyeshadow.  Don't worry.  It was only for a few minutes!  I think she even scared herself!

Right side...

The sticker says it all!

Project Life {Week 10}

I'm choking as I type "Week 10"!  How can it be the middle of March already?  I feel like the year just started!  Slow down father time...slow down!

Side note:  If you're a math guru, tomorrow's PI Day.  Just saying!

Okay, back to my senses.  For some reason the camera and I are NOT friends right now.  Could I take a decent picture of a non-moving, non-screaming object?  Nope.  So please disregard the horrendous photos you're about to see.

The weather was so nice last week that I somehow forgot to take pictures.  We were "treating" our cabin fever with some outdoor sunshine, and I kept thinking "It's okay that you didn't take a picture today.  There's always tomorrow."  Ugh...somehow I've arrived into the following week without knowing it.  Again, slow down father time!

So here is my layout for Week 10.  Nothing too special.  I'm still going the simple route.  Somehow even the simple route seems to take a lot of my time.  I think I have some organization problem, which doesn't pair well with not being able to make a decision!  Seriously!

I'm all "Should I use this sticker this week or save it for next week?  Do I put this picture here or over there?"  Man, decision-making is NOT my thing!

Anyway, here's the full layout minus the right edge.  My camera has it out for me!

Here's the left side. No, that is not Stay Puff Marshmallow Man from Ghostbusters. Just had to blur some pictures for internet precautions.

Here's the right side.  I caught a little sibling rivalry in action. HAD to document it.  Don't worry...I stopped the incident before it evolved.  I have cat-like reflexes, after all!

 A few close-ups seeing how the full photos are horrendous!  Seriously, this camera HATES me.  None of that "It's the user" talk.  I can hear you, people!  Okay, not really.

The little man was getting in on the camera action.  Maybe I should use his photos!

Yet another collage, but it shows the little man in full character.  Climbing onto the counters...daily occurrence around here.

I did add quite a few collages this week.  I think I'm a little too collage-happy!  It's the easiest way for me to get more photos without having a lot of inserts.  Trying to keep things simple since I'm living the "simple life"!  Ha!  I wish!

As I've said before, check out The Mom Creative and One Happy Mama for some fantabulous layouts and inspiration!

One day, I WILL start applying all of the great knowledge I've gained from other Project Lifers!  I will, I say, I will!

Project Life 2012 {Week 9}

This week I THOUGHT I'd go the easy route.  Ya know, I added some of my pictures to the journaling cards before printing them and even added a blog post instead of a journaling card.  I was hoping to save some valuable time and even moolah!

As always, it didn't go as planned!  My two little *helpers* were in full help mode once again.  Little Logan was cutting up papers while scolding Bebe Bubba for getting too close.  We're still getting used to this whole crawling thing.  You'd think by the third child we'd have it all figured out...nope!

I even put the stickers and other embellishments out of the bebe's reach...or so I thought!  Did I mention that he moves quite quickly now?  I keep forgetting!

Glad these kids keep me hopping, though.  If not, I wouldn't have anything to put in my PL album...and that would be TERRIBLE!

Anywho, here is week 9.  Like I've said, I'm going the simple route seeing how time is precious in this house.

Yes, I realize my daughter is wearing a giant rectangular outfit in the pictures above!  See, she got two of her dance costumes this week, and they're supposed to be kept secret.  In a couple months, her dance recital will be the BIG REVEAL!  How exciting!!  Getting the new costumes is always a huge deal around here.

Now the goal is to keep her from wearing them too much before the recital...accidents always seem to happen with this family.  Don't want any holes or tears 'cause this mama can't fix it!

Like I mentioned, I added a blog post to the top right corner of the first page.  I loved doing this...something a little different than the standard journaling card.

Once again, I used the same printables from a couple weeks ago.

And look at these printables.  Aren't they just so darn cute?!  I think they're calling my name!

So if you want to see lovely PL layouts, head over to Jessica's blog and Kristina's blog.  There's some amazing inspiration over there!

Project Life 2012 {Week 8}

Look who's done with Project Life Week 8!  This girl!  It wasn't finished without any hitches, though.

As I found out yesterday, my boys and scrapbooking do not mix.  Midway through my layouts, I look down at the floor only to see one little baby eating everything he could find, and the other sticking every sticker on every stickable surface!   While I was cleaning up that mess and reminding myself that the baby can move especially when tempted by tiny, little objects on the floor, the 2-year old decided to dump EVERY SINGLE brad onto the carpet.  Let me remind you that we have frieze (aka. shaggy) carpet! The purpose of this carpet is to hide things...mission accomplished!

Like I've said before, these pages may not be scrapalicious, but I really love this project! I'm going the more simple route in order for it to not become my life.

I think we'll really enjoy this album when we look back on our lives...heck, we're already loving it.  As I look at pictures, I'm startled to see that a certain event took place FOUR weeks ago and another FIVE weeks ago.  Seriously, time goes way too fast.  Although to my daughter, she thinks it never moves!  Oh, to be young again...second thought, I wouldn't want to go through the teenage years ever again!  I'm fine just where I am.

Project Life 2012 {Week 6 & 7}

These are my Project Life pages for Week 6 & 7.

Week 6

Week 7

Since I had a lot of questions from y'all about Project Life, I decided to share a little about what I used on these pages...in case you wanted to get your own!  And yes, there are a TON of free printables, which I totally LOVE!

  • The Becky Higgins Core Kit - Clementine has a lot of journaling cards along with various stickers and title/filler cards.  It's a great starter, and you probably don't need to use much else.  However, if you're feeling extra motivated, you can make your own cards out of cardstock or whatever else you feel called to use. The Clementine kit isn't available right now, but there are different kits if you want one.

  • The Journal Cards via Miss Tina were added to these pages.  Did I mention that they're free?  You don't have to mess with making them, either.  Anything to save time is a blessing to me!
Let me just say that I HEART Project Life!  The wannabe scrapbooker in me is very excited!  This is so simple.  Since I have such a hard time making decisions, easy layouts are a good thing!  Nothing too fancy for this girl!

Project Life 2012...

Thanks to the never-ending wealth of knowledge found on Pinterest...I've started 1,523 projects!  Seriously, if you somehow don't know about Pinterest, keep it that way!  Do not pass go!  Do not collect $200!

It's terribly addicting!

I decided to share ONE of the projects on my current to-do list!  I'm always adding/changing that list...since I have no ability to stay focused on ONE project!

Anyway, I've started a little something known as Project Life by Becky Higgins.
*Brief explanation:  Pictures and journaling showcasing your life on a weekly basis.*

I've always "tried" to be a scrapper...strong emphasis on "tried"!  I own a lot of paraphernalia, and I really want to use it.  For some reason whenever I got together with friends to scrap, I would just stare in awe of their work and NEVER accomplish anything!  No joke!  I even went to a few weekend scrap-a-thons only to bring home maybe ONE completed page!  Seriously, how is that possible?  No kids there to distract me, yet I did nothing!  All I wanted to do was look at everyone's creativeness and not work on my own.  Pathetic!

So I came across Project Life and was immediately sold on the idea.  I take A LOT of pictures (in case you didn't notice), and I've always journaled!  Put the two together...and voila...Project Life!  Plus, it's a way to use up the materials I already own.

Here are a few of the pages that I've completed.  I have more, but I didn't want to post too many this go round.  Warning...they are NOT scraptastic, but that's the beauty of it.  I was able to be a little creative, and it didn't take a lot of time.  Sitting down with little pieces of paper, ribbon, and glue dots does not pair well with active children!

The best part...combining pictures with journaling in order to capture the little ones in all of their cuteness.  Hope they enjoy it one day!

(Please ignore the reflections caused by the page protectors!)
